Snow White and Seven Men – Chapter Eleven

Meanwhile, back at the palace the Wicked Queen had spent the past couple of weeks frolicking around the palace, so proud of how clever she was to have poisoned that stuck up little princess. So confident was she in her skill as a professional hitman that she didn’t even seek confirmation from her magic mirror. She hadn’t even checked that the princess was actually dead by any tried and tested means. No no, she knew that she could not have failed as she was a very clever queen who is not rubbish at killing people like that wretched huntsman.

But, one day she heard a ruckus from outside of the palace walls. She popped her beautiful head outside to listen. She couldn’t tell what exactly was causing the disturbance, but something hadn’t gotten every single peasant in a whirl. There was angry shouting, she could hear that much, but there were also cheerful voices. ‘What could those idiots possibly have to be cheerful about?’ wondered the Wicked Queen. Suddenly a tangle of dread weaved a knot in the pit of her stomach. ‘No…’ She raced to her royal dressing room, placed her hands on the frame of the mirror, gripping it until her fingers turned white, leapt forward and demanded, ‘Mirror mirror on the wall,’ the mirror began to glow, ‘who is the fairest of them all?’ The androgynous face appeared in the mirror. It gulped, remembering the reaction it had caused last time it had revealed its truth. ‘Your Royal Highness,’ it began, ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder.’

‘Don’t give me that shit! Is Snow White dead?!’ she shrilled.

‘Snow White lives,’ the face said regretfully.

‘Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!’ The Wicked Queen fell to her knees.
